This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Rik King from Vide Chiropractic to the Newhaven Enterprise Centre.

Rik shared some invaluable advice for all of us who spend most of the day at a desk or in front of a computer. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Posture is Key – One of the simplest ways to protect your back is to ensure you’re sitting properly. Think about keeping your back straight, shoulders back, and feet flat on the floor. Small adjustments can make a huge difference.

  2. Take Breaks – Long periods of sitting can cause stiffness and discomfort. Make it a habit to stand up, stretch, and move around every 30 minutes. Even short bursts of movement can help reduce strain.

  3. Workstation Setup – Rik emphasized the importance of having an ergonomic workstation. Adjusting your chair, monitor height, and keyboard position can help minimize unnecessary stress on your back.

  4. Strengthen Your Core – A strong core supports your spine. Incorporating exercises that strengthen your abdominal muscles can contribute to overall back health and stability.
